OUR TENETS OF BUSINESS
Practice active communication—To serve the client’s needs one must know the client’s needs. Because it is unlikely that an unspoken need will be met, it is our responsibility to listen attentively to our clients, to ask probing questions, and to confirm our interpretations of our clients’ responses through feedback.
Have zero tolerance for unethical behavior—There are
no circumstances that justify unethical behavior. To gain trust, one must be
deserving of trust. Personal integrity is the single, most important human characteristic.
We will not breach our ethics nor will we associate with those who do.
Adhere to a global perspective—The world is getting smaller
every day. This is especially true in the financial industry where new markets,
new possibilities and new opportunities are seemingly in constant supply.
Embrace diversity—What’s true for portfolios is
also true for people. Differences among people, whether they be cultural, educational,
racial etc. enhance the texture of the fabric of life. Being receptive to these
differences can enrich our lives enormously.
Keep things in perspective—Avoid the pitfall of becoming
so immersed in the daily functioning that the broader perspective is lost. Remember
those things of paramount importance: treating others with kindness, humility,
compassion and empathy. Have fun, help others to have fun, and don’t take
yourself too seriously; if you can’t laugh at yourself you’re missing
out on a good joke.
